It\u2019s our 6-month anniversary today. Today our blog is 6 months old!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got the article in late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

How classic is that? Right when we seem to be \u201cfinally getting\u201d recovery, hitting our stride, we suddenly hit a roadblock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can give you a bunch of excuses. I just came down with COVID. I forgot to add it to my calendar. It\u2019s somebody else\u2019s fault! It must be! It has to be somebody else, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or, I can choose the recovery route:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

1.   I am powerless over this mistake. I <\/em>made it, and I\u2019m powerless over it. It has made my life unmanageable<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.  I have come to believe that with my Higher Power, I can make a sane decision now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.   Make a decision to do what God wants next;  which is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.   Make a fearless moral inventory on how I can take accountability for my actions, now and going forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.   Tell it to God and another person<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.   Becoming willing to surrender my forgetfulness<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.   Surrender my forgetfulness<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8.   Make a list of those I have harmed<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9.   Apologize to them<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10.   (see 1-9)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11.   Pray to God to help me take the right next action<\/p>\n\n\n\n

12.   Write this article, and put the next article on my calendar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the best map I can write you. The truest blueprint for the road to freedom. It\u2019s those same old Steps, all 12 of them, and they work in every possible situation. Even this one!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So here\u2019s to 6 months of weekly articles, of addicts hitting deadlines, of addicts writing their ESH, of addicts miraculously acting like something other than addicts! Addicts acting like, no – truly being<\/em> – human beings, becoming a part of the real world!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recovery isn\u2019t about being perfect, and never making mistakes. It\u2019s about owning them and correcting them. It\u2019s about bringing God into them. And so, congratulations to us all! We truly are on the road to freedom, \u201cone article at a time\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
